The Document Object Model (DOM)

The Document Object Model (DOM) is a language-independent specification for the representation of a XML or HTML document as an object hierarchy. Additional, bindings of the model for several programming languages is defined. The Java bindings are implemented as interfaces, with the sources to those interfaces provided by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), without implementations. XMLC is designed so that a developer only need to know about the standard interfaces, the particular implementation in use is hidden as much a possible from the developer.
